I'm struggling to find time to do any dedicated drawing at the moment, so all I am able to do is quick 5 minute drawings at my desk. I wish I could find the time to draw and to develop the character further. I'll find some time one day....

I was doodling today while thinking about taking my daughter to her dance class tomorrow which inspired the picture on the left.
I only got this far as I really liked what I had done but was scared of ruining it if I continued!! I need a light box, then I can re-create it as many times as I want.
I will develop this character though as I find her quite sweet.

Problem - While sketching away, trying to develop my drawings I loose confidence if I am not 100% happy with all of them. Solution - I go back to copying from reference books in order to regain some faith in my ability.
Although this may delay progress it helps me break through the frustration of not being at the level I want to be....I just need to demonstrate balance and force myself to continue with drawing from real life. I will get there....

I want to illustrate, its the job I want to do and its something I could be doing now if I hadn't been ignorant and decided to leave College during an illustration course at the tender age of 17......
After reading various material on illustration it is clear I need to go back to 'school' and start from the beginning to eradicate all pre-conceived ideas on how to draw.
I bought a sketch book and began (tentatively) at the beginning. Just forms, not faces (I'm building up to that !) I have only uploaded a couple of pictures from a camera phone to start but as my confidence grows so will this online portfolio.
I would like to have comments, and I am prepared for brutal honesty as I won't get anywhere without taking on board others comments!!
